Quick & Easy – 3 Ingredient Sorbet – Two Ways

If you know me anything at all, you know that I’m all about getting everything done quick and easy. I think I take this route for pretty much everything I do. If you know me anything at all, you should also know that I have a sweet tooth that just can’t be satiated. In fact it’s what I struggle with the most in terms of eating clean.

I’d be a millionaire if I had a penny for every time I’ve said ‘sugar will be the death of me’ (before continuing to eat more of it, of course).

But all this consciousness about health and fitness has made me find innovative ways to address my sweet cravings. Frozen grapes and melon cubes have a permanent place in my freezer now. They’re perfect for a post meal sweet craving 75% of the time. It’ll work way more if you have more will power than me. Ever so often I also buy frozen berries because they’re way cheaper than fresh ones and come in super handy for smoothies, making compotes, jams, nice cream etc.

Although nice cream is nice and all, I am not much of a banana for/in ice cream person. At least not every time I have a sweet craving. I’d rather have banana bread. Anyway, now that I have wasted two minutes of your time getting you to read things that are of almost no use, let me tell you about what I came here for. To share the recipe for a super delicious sweet treat that you can whip up in minutes. Something you can customize a thousand ways with different combination of fruits depending on the season or what you have in hand.

This isn’t even a real recipe. It’s just a list of things that you need to freeze and then blend together to give you a dessert you’ll love. Bonus – it’s dairy-free, refined sugar-free and gluten-free. Now that I have used all the fad words, let’s jump right into the recipe, yeah?

Berry-Melon Sorbet –

  • 1.5 cups frozen berries – I’ve used strawberries + raspberries
  • 1 cup frozen melon – I’ve used honeydew melon
  • 3T fresh orange juice or 1.5T lemon juice
  • 1.5T sweetener of choice – optional – I’ve used agave powder

Pulse everything in a mixie jar and then blend together scraping sides until everything comes together into a smooth, sorbet consistency.

Serve immediately with toppings of choice. I used pomegranate arils and fresh mint leaves.

Variations that I have in mind to try next time – add some mint leaves while blending it next because it adds a beautiful fresh flavor to the sorbet. And maybe a sprinkle of black salt or sea salt? Also some ginger. Mmhmm..

Mango-Melon Sorbet –

  • 1.5 cups frozen mango
  • 1 cup frozen melon of choice – pineapple would go really well here, I didn’t have any.
  • 3T fresh orange juice or 1.5T lemon juice
  • 1-1.5T sweetener of choice – optional
  • 3-5 fresh mint leaves – optional

Pulse everything in a mixie jar and then blend together scraping sides until everything comes together into a smooth, sorbet consistency.

Serve immediately with toppings of choice. I used frozen raspberries and slivered almonds.

Variations that I have in mind to try next time – using some avocado along with the mangoes. Maybe some coconut cream in place of the orange juice? Or a little bit of jalapeños pulsed in or topped with some cayenne..

We have this as a post meal treat or a snack or breakfast or whenever we need a pick-me-up. My kids love it and it vanishes in seconds every time I make it. This is a perfect summer treat. We’ve had so many variations of it with every fruit possible. Pomegranate-grapes, mixed berries, mango, mango and passion fruit, frozen watermelon, a mix of melons, watermelon & mint to name a few.

This can also be used as a base for smoothies. Just blend it with more juice or water to a consistency of your choice. Or if you want to take it up a notch, use it as a base for making cocktails. You’re welcome!

As always, try and let me know how you like it?
